There are a number of recent attempts to produce a viable electric car, but the technology and demand means that this version has not been a great success. The biggest drawback is due to poor battery technology, which means that the vehicle totally lacking in the performance to keep up with modern traffic, and a sad series of bad races.

Now the Tesla roadster can hit sixty in 3.9 seconds and a top speed of 125 mph was launched, challenging the perceived stereotype of an electric car. Ironically, many delays prevented the Roadster was launched in 2007 as a result of the battery, but really because the electric motor is too strong.

Originally expected that the two-speed gearbox will be necessary for the performance target 248bhp electric Tesla, but the high torque of the engine means that the single speed options are now used to accommodate possible. To meet their performance figures, the maximum increase in the current Tesla Roadster battery.

Electrical power comes from lithium-ion cell 6831, a maximum range of 220 miles to give. The battery can be recharged through a conventional household electricity and the total charging time is approximately 8 hours. Like all rechargeable batteries, lithium-ion cells do have a limited life of about 5 years or 100,000 miles, but by the time they need to replace the battery technology is more advanced.

Based on the Lotus Elise roadster chassis, which is very large, which means that the Tesla Roadster is blessed with very good handling, and thanks to the aluminum weight saving design and a direct effect of an electric motor, the performance of a race of super -Modern. In the very rare luxury cockpit drain like electric windows or air conditioning, lighting and even the Tesla Roadster car fuel.

Unfortunately, this advanced technology is not cheap, and the new Tesla Roadster costs the same as a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo, but Tesla plans more affordable sedan, coupe and SUV released in the future.
